about
I'm Josh, a full stack engineer working in Laravel and Vue every day.
I work at Netwatch Global, building with Laravel on the server and Vue in the browser. The thing I care about most is type safety from the database to the browser, which is a polite way of saying I have opinions about DTOs.
This site is where those opinions go once they've survived a real codebase. Every essay is numbered and opens with its stance, so you know what I think before you decide whether to read why.
what I write about
- How Laravel applications should be structured, and where the framework already does the work.
- Type safety between PHP and TypeScript, and keeping both sides honest.
- Maintaining open source packages without letting them maintain you.
